Project Goals

This was a very short project to create a small minigame. I didn't have an exact timeframe for it, but I wanted it to be very quick. Simple, easy, quick.

Work Summary

  • Created a manager that tracks the current "level" of difficulty, which determines which shapes spawn and how often

  • Five shapes that behave slightly differently, including starting size

  • Simple scoring system that scales up with level and how close the shape is to "breaking"

  • Weighted spawn rates for each shape to expand on balancing options

  • All visuals

Outcome

I'm very happy with the final results of this. The game looks simple, it feels simple, and I managed it all in just over 24 working-hours. I worked from the beginning to ensure it would be playable by as many people as possible, too. The colors are from a palette aimed at being clearly visible to all forms of color blindness and it was an active choice to include no text other than the score. The best part, it can be played in a browser! Right below this!
